Five technical features ensure stable, high-performance and secure internet, TV and telephony in Chiasso, Vacallo, Morbio Inferiore and Balerna, with minimal latency (data transmission delays in the millisecond range). Ascona4net operates the fibre optic network neutrally and does not offer its own telecom services.
The fibre optic infrastructure is available to all providers on equal terms. This allows you to freely choose between available providers and switch at any time if needed. In this way, we enable fair competition, attractive offers and maximum flexibility on the fibre optic network.

The fibre optic connection is already available in all homes and businesses.
The optical telecommunications outlet (OTO) is ready for service and connected to the fibre optic network, with a unique OTO ID. This allows you to order internet, TV or telephony services directly from the provider of your choice – without additional installation or waiting time. Services can be activated within 24 hours.

Ascona4net’s comprehensive point-to-point FTTH fibre optic network is an ultra-modern data network that connects the entire areas of Ascona. Every house, flat and business received its own dedicated fibre optic connection – free of charge and without shared bandwidth. The fibres transmit data at the speed of light, enabling Internet speeds far above 10 Gbit/s, with symmetrical upload and download rates and outstanding reliability. Ascona4net built and operates the comprehensive fibre optic network and provides all telecommunications providers with open and fair access. This allows providers to offer their multimedia services – such as Internet, TV and telephony – directly over the best fibre optic network available.

The demand for high and reliable bandwidth continues to grow steadily. Copper and coaxial cables have already reached their technical limits and can no longer be expanded. A point-to-point fibre optic network, by contrast, guarantees virtually unlimited data capacity at the speed of light. The point-to-point FTTH fibre network operated by Ascona4net delivers data at the highest speeds and with maximum reliability. This means that Ascona are already ideally equipped today for the communication and data exchange needs of the future.

The fibre optic connection itself does not consume any electricity. Only the end device provided by your telecommunications provider – such as a modem or router – requires a very small amount of energy. On average, the power consumption is around 4 watts. For comparison: a 200-watt halogen lamp uses roughly 50 times more energy.

No, the fibre optic cable does not emit any harmful radiation. The transmission medium for the signals is pure light, which does not generate radiation and is completely harmless to health. An FTTH fibre optic connection therefore operates without any radiation exposure.

Fibre optics are extremely powerful. A single fibre per household or business is sufficient to meet the needs of even the most demanding users – including in the future, as speeds and data volumes are expected to increase by a factor of forty to fifty in the coming years.

An open and non-discriminatory fibre optic network (Open Access) means that Ascona4net’s point-to-point FTTH fibre optic network is freely accessible to all telecommunications providers. This enables all residents and businesses in Ascona to choose their provider freely and switch at any time if needed. Ascona4net focuses exclusively on new buildings, renovations and refurbishments, as well as on the operation of the fibre optic infrastructure. In addition, Ascona4net does not offer any telecommunications or multimedia services itself.

Genuine competition does not require multiple parallel fibre optic networks. Ascona4net’s comprehensive point-to-point FTTH fibre optic network is a true open-access network and is accessible to all telecommunications providers – including Swisscom as a potential service provider. Multiple infrastructures do not create additional value; instead, they are a pure waste of money and lead only to significant economic costs, construction impact and environmental burden. A single modern, comprehensive fibre optic network with open access therefore provides the best foundation for innovation, sustainability and fair competition.
